A 56-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of Reginald Lamont Brownlee, 44, at 228 Orange Street on Monday evening, October 7th.
Brian Keith Nesbitt faces two charges: 1) Murder and 2) Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime. He is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center without bond.
On Wednesday afternoon, October 9th, co-workers and neighbors contacted the Greenville Police Department requesting a welfare check for Brownlee who had not been seen for several days. Patrol officers responded to find a door to the residence open. Once inside, they located Brownlee deceased.
GPD’s investigation revealed that Brownlee died as a result of Nesbitt assaulting him during an argument. Autopsy results showed that Brownlee died after being stabbed in the abdomen.
Nesbitt, who was at times a roommate of the victim, left but returned to the residence on Tuesday and remained there overnight with the victim’s body.
This is the third homicide in the City of Greenville in 2019.
• On May 11th, Udeh Joshua Osuagwu, Jr., 18, was shot multiple times at a residence at Waterside Greene Apartment Homes. Five individuals were charged in connection with his murder.
• On July 3rd, Jerel Mansel, 29, died of a gunshot wound at the Forest View Apartment complex. Nicholas Jamar Dillard, 29, was charged with his murder.
The GPD is grateful for assistance from the Greenville County Forensic Division, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the Greenville County Medical Examiner’s Office, Crime Stoppers of Greenville, and many others who provided invaluable information and tips to law enforcement throughout this investigation.
