Congratulations to the Greenville City Fire Department (GCFD) on hosting the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Peer Fitness Certification Course, which drew 31 firefighters from around the Upstate. The one-week class, held at the Greenville Convention Center in January, allowed firefighters to become certified as Peer Fitness Trainers and fully implement the GCFD fitness program.

A total of 16 city firefighters now hold the certification, which will improve the health of firefighters and reduce the risk of injury on the job. Trainers will implement exercise programs and assist in the physical training of recruits.
