MEDIA ADVISORY: Approximately 15 Benedict College students who have been identified as being interested in law enforcement after graduation will be in Greenville on Monday, April 23, from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. Participants will explore GPD facilities, meet command staff members, and take a tour of Greenville that will include interactions with City Manager John Castile, Chief Ken Miller, and members of city council as well as other community leaders and influencers.
This effort is part of the department’s ongoing strategic plan to increase diversity within its sworn and non-sworn ranks. Recent GPD recruitment efforts have focused on students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) through campus visits and memorandums of understanding.
Members of the media are encouraged to attend. The itinerary and approximate times are as follows:
9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Greenville Police Department Training Range (688 Mauldin Road, Greenville)
