Hospitality Tax

Paying Hospitality Tax

We’re making doing business with the City of Greenville easier and more convenient! The City has launched an online portal for payment of annual business license renewals, hospitality taxes and local accommodations taxes.

In the next few days business owners will be receiving their business license renewal application and letters regarding hospitality and accommodation payment information, and instructions on how to use the portal.

The business license application and the hospitality and accommodation letters will contain business license, hospitality or accommodation, license number, pin number and control number. Business owners should retain the license, pin and control number information because they will need this information to use the online payment portal.  Meanwhile, visit the portal to review our guide to online payment

Tax Requirements

In 2001, Greenville City Council authorized the levy of a 2% Local Hospitality Tax on prepared meals and beverages including alcoholic beverages, beer, and wine sold in the City of Greenville.

All restaurants, bars, lounges, and private clubs serving food and/or alcohol are required to pay this tax. These funds must be used for tourism-related activities and improvements.

For questions regarding hospitality taxes, please contact the City at 864-232-CARE (2273).
