Trails & Greenways: A Top Priority
The development of a Trails and Greenways Master Plan (PDF) was a "Top Priority" project as identified by Greenville City Council's 2006 Management Agenda. Over the course of the next year, two public meetings were held, more than 450 public comments were received via an on-line survey and the master plan was presented to council in September, 2007. On January 28, 2008 City Council adopted the Trails and Greenway's Master Plan. By doing so they formally recognized the importance of connecting residents and visitors alike to popular destinations throughout the City of Greenville. The Master Plan, amongst other things, encourages physical activity, promotes safe and sustainable transportation, stimulates economic growth and helps to protect environmental quality of open spaces and creek and river corridors.
