Shredding and Electronics Recycling Day | Saturday, March 15, 2014

Recycle Your Computer!The City holds this event bi-annually, in the spring and fall.

On Saturday, March 15, from 9 am to Noon at the TD Convention Center, in the Eisenhower parking lot. Businesses and individuals are welcome. All paper must be bagged or boxed and each person is limited to three trash bags or three small boxes of paper.

The City of Greenville Solid Waste Division also will be collecting eletronic recycling at the same time. Free to City residents and businesses, the following items are accepted: computer monitors, keyboards, mice, CPUs, etc. (all things that plug into a computer), televisions.

Note: There is a limit of 10 electronic items per person. The City no longer is accepting fluorescent bulbs for recycling.

In addition, the Julie Valentine Center will be onsite accepting donations. For more information, call 864-467-8300.

Christmas Tree RecyclingGrinding of the Greens: Recycle Your Tree

The City of Greenville annually holds the Grinding of the Greens Christmas tree recycling program. For the convenience of city residents, trees can be placed at the curb for collection on regularly scheduled pick-up days or taken to one of four convenient locations for recycling. All trees must be free of debris such as ornaments, tinsel, ribbons and lights to be recycled. Drop-off locations include:

  • Holmes Park at Twin Lakes Road and Holmes Drive
  • Timmons Park, at Oxford Street and Blackburn Drive
  • Gower Park at Laurel Creek Lane and Laurens Road
  • West Greenville Recreation Center at 8 Rochester Street

The locations listed above will be open through Jan. 24. Curbside pick-up within the city limits will continue for as long as needed. Trees and trimmings are ground into mulch at Twin Chimneys Landfill. Call the Twin Chimneys Landfill at (864) 243-9672 for more information.

All holiday boxes, tissue paper and wrapping paper (except foil-lined) can be recycled at the curb and at the City’s Stone Avenue Recycling Center at 800 East Stone Avenue and North Greenville Recycling Center at 514 Rutherford Road.
