Our Mission
Welcome to the City of Greenville’s Engineering Division web site. It is our intent to help you successfully navigate through this web site to access engineering related information. This Division is responsible for civil engineering, environmental engineering, traffic engineering, and construction inspection for the City of Greenville.
Our goal is to be of service to you!
The Engineering Division plans, designs, and constructs many different types of projects associated with our Capital Improvements Program (CIP) and development. These projects include infrastructure improvements associated with storm water drainage, sanitary sewer, roadways and intersections, sidewalks, resurfacing, and streetcapes. Additionally, this Division has responsibility for the implementation of on and off-site improvements to support residential and commercial development throughout our City.
One of our strategic initiatives is to help you with our site grading permit process The Division provides civil, environmental and traffic engineering reviews of site grading permits and works very closely with the
City’s Building and Zoning Department
on the review and approval of these permits.
The City of Greenville has 'Delegated Review Program' status with the
South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC) and we can help you with environmental permitting requirements for storm water and sanitary sewer associated with commercial projects.
This Division also provides information and applications on street and alley abandonment, availability of sanitary sewer, storm water and sanitary sewer easements, and encroachment permits for work located within the public right-of-way (Construction Inspection). This division also reviews and approves Summary Plats as a pre-requisite to recording with the County of Greenville.
Please contact my administrative staff to schedule an appointment to meet with me or my staff if you need assistance with your project, information about a project, or a review of your plat.
In closing, I value your comments about how we are doing and customer service is very important goal for the City of Greenville.
Thank you,
Philip R. Lindsay, P.E.
