Mobi-Rec Van Donated to City
photo of mobile rec van

A group of graduates from Furman University's Riley Institute Diversity Leaders Initiative raised more than $40,000 to purchase and supply the city with a recreation and sports equipment vehicle. The new 2013 Chevrolet Express van is outfitted with a variety of sports and recreation equipment, and wrapped in a colorful exterior so that children can recognize it.

The DLI program graduates presented the gift to the city on July 11, 2013. They want the van to be used to reach neighborhood children who may not have access to recreation programs. City Parks and Recreation professionals will staff the van ensuring the children will have positive experiences. No new staff has been added to accommodate this service – staff has creatively adjusted work schedules to make it work.

Program Instructors Needed

The City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking instructors to offer fun and exciting recreational and educational classes to our community. Our department offers a wide variety of recreational programs to citizens of all ages. These programs take place in city parks, community centers and other locations.
