Our Mission

The City of Greenville’s Recreation Division is committed to and accountable for providing a diverse range of quality programs and services to our community that promotes fun, wellness and education in a welcoming and safe environment.

Recreational Programs

The Parks and Recreation department offers a variety of recreational programs for youth, teens, adults and seniors. From soccer to softball, and from after-school care to summer camp, we have something for every age and interest. Learn More.

Pitch, Hit and Run Logo
Special Event: MLB Pitch, Hit and Run Competition!

Registration: 9-9:45 am Saturday, May 11, 2013
Competition: Begins at 10 am
Cost: Free

Pitch, Hit & Run™ is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball®. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills..

Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2013 MLB™ All-Star Game®.

The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age and gender group at the Local Competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of Competition.

All participants must check-in and/or register before 9:45 a.m. Participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. No metal cleats allowed at the competition. All participants will receive one free ticket to the Greenville Drive game that evening.

Program Instructors Needed

The City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking instructors to offer fun and exciting recreational and educational classes to our community. Our department offers a wide variety of recreational programs to citizens of all ages. These programs take place in city parks, community centers and other locations.

Youth Sports

Youth Athletics Programs cater to children ages 5-18, and provide numerous benefits from playing in organized youth sports. Youth sports sponsored by the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department provide the opportunity for boys and girls to learn good sportsmanship and progressively develop skills. The Athletics Program is dedicated to providing quality athletic competition, instruction, and participation for youth and adults in Greenville through camps, clinics, and leagues.

Officials, scorekeepers, and coaches are always needed for both youth and adult programs. For information on any athletic program, call 864-467-8011.
