2009 Business Seminar Series
The City of Greenville is hosting a series of free educational seminars for owners, managers and employees of businesses located in the City of Greenville. The monthly seminars have been designed to provide participants with information and advice to help them succeed, as well as to provide them with a unique opportunity to discuss the real-world challenges of running a business. The seminars will be led by some of the area’s top consultants and business leaders and will feature a variety of topics.

Each seminar will be held in the 3rd floor conference room of City Hall, located at 206 South Main Street. Drinks will be provided, but attendees should plan to bring their own lunch. This seminar will provide an overview of those habits and an introduction to the key concepts that have made Covey’s work so popular and widely accepted. Participants will learn how to improve the way they approach their job, relationships, problems and opportunities.

Norm Crouse is the training specialist for the City of Greenville. He has 25 years of experience in both government and private sector. He is also the author of “Motivation is an Inside Job: How to really get your employees to deliver the results you need.”

Creative Problem Solving

Kathy is owner and principal consultant with Synchlora LLC, a company dedicated to creative leadership development. She is also adjunct faculty in the MBA program at Clemson University where she teaches the course "Creativity in Business" and conducts research in creative thinking.

This interactive workshop introduces tools and techniques for developing solutions to challenging, open-ended problems by combining creative thinking with critical thinking. Individual thinking preferences will be explored to leverage the mental diversity of team members contributing to the solution. Participants will gain first-hand experience in creative problem solving using a topic related to the economic growth of the city of Greenville.
