Celtic musicians at Return to the GreenEach March, the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department sponsors an annual family celebration of Irish culture. Located in the West End, this one-day event occurs the Sunday prior to St. Patrick's Day. The celebration includes live Celtic music, bagpipes, Irish food and drink and a variety of children's activities.

moonlight movie series
Enjoy the classics - outdoors! The Moonlight Movie Series will be Wednesdays in May and September, at the Peace Center Amphitheater. Showtime is at dark. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars. For more information, click here.

World Tai Chi Day is April 26 The free event, held in April, features Tai Chi and Qigong demonstrations by local instructors and students.
Both Tai Chi and Qigong are becoming increasingly popular in the U.S. Often referred to as moving meditation, Tai Chi is one of the most effective exercises for physical and mental well-being. In fact, scientific studies show Tai Chi increases flexibility, muscular strength, and fitness. Qigong helps people increase their self-awareness, build internal energy, and develop a healthy body physically and spiritually.

Performers at the Reedy River Concert SeriesThis FREE outdoor family entertainment series is held every Wednesday, 7 - 9pm, June through August, at the Peace Center Amphitheater. This relaxed outdoor setting along the Reedy River features a variety of music performed by regional and local entertainers. Bring a picnic, a blanket or lawn chair; relax and enjoy a wonderful evening at a beautiful and popular outdoor venue.

The Bluegrass at Peace 2009
festival is set for Oct. 30th to Nov. 1.

The 2009 lineup features: Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury, Rhonda Vincent, Seldom Scene, Claire Lynch, Nashville Bluegrass Band, Blue Highway, Kruger Brothers, Steep Canyon Rangers, and local/regional bands!

greenville poinsettia christmas parade
Christmas Parade photoThe Blue Star Mothers - Upstate Chapter and the City of Greenville sponsor Greenville's favorite tradition, the Greenville Poinsettia Christmas Parade. For more than 20 years, the parade has signaled the start of the Christmas season in Greenville. Each year the parade attracts thousands of visitors downtown to view the holiday floats and activities. The parade is traditionally held the first Saturday in December. This year, the parade will be on Dec. 6, 2009. Download a 2009 Parade Application.

The City of Greenville Acoustic Café is a year-round program to schedule and promote street performance at five downtown locations: Bowater Amphitheater, Piazza Bergamo, Hyatt Plaza, Court Square and the Shoeless Joe Jackson Plaza.
