Standing at the gateway to Greenville’s West side is the honorary statue of Dr. Pete Hollis. The statue, created by artist Tom Durham, resides in the Pete Hollis Sculpture Garden on the corner of Pete Hollis Boulevard and Rutherford Street.
The 8-foot bronze statue pays tribute to Dr. Hollis, a nationally-recognized educator who served as superintendent of the former Parker School District. The sculpture was funded with the help of a local civic organization that organized an engraved brick campaign.
The Pete Hollis Walk of Fame leads the way to the sculpture. The statue is protected by a retaining wall of ceramic tiles created by art students at the Fine Arts Center and the Governor’s School.
