June is Homeownership Month, and to celebrate, we want to highlight two special communities:Chicora Crest
Located in the Haynie-Sirrine neighborhood, Chicora Crest was completed in 2014 through a partnership between Homes of Hope and the City of Greenville. It features a mixture of owner-occupied and affordable rental units, with a total of 29 homes.
This year, the Haynie-Sirrine Neighborhood Association used funds they received from the Grant Assistance Program (GAP) to make improvements to the common area in Chicora Crest. Improvements included an additional light post and picnic table to complement their gazebo, which was funded through the GAP program in 2016.Mt. Eustis Corners
Mt. Eustis Corners is located in the Greenline-Spartanburg neighborhood, where Genesis Homes, Quinn-Satterfield and the City of Greenville are collaborating to make home ownership opportunities available to individuals who qualify.
Chicora Crest and Mt. Eustis Corners are examples of how Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds are used to benefit existing neighborhoods. The City’s Community Development Division works to ensure CDBG funds are used to improve and support programming in the city. The infographic below highlights the work supported and completed through Community Development, using CDBG funds:
